Crafted into the hillside, 1994
The Eagles Nest was built in 1994, set into the hillside rather than perched on top of it — a timber house of Oregon pine beams, raked ceilings and polished hardwood, with floor-to-ceiling glass framing the landscape from every angle.
It has been thoughtfully renovated since, and it runs today as a family-run retreat taken by one booking at a time: the whole house and all fifty acres to whoever holds it.

The valley
Between two ranges
The house holds a quiet ridgeline in the Sarabah Valley, with the Sarabah Range to the west and the Darlington Range to the east. Canungra sits to the north; to the south-west, the heritage-listed rainforest of Lamington National Park climbs away from the property's foothills.
The valley sets the day's rhythm — fog rising through it at dawn, eagles gliding past at eye level, western sunsets settling gently over the infinity pool.

The Scenic Rim
The Scenic Rim is the arc of ranges, farmland and small country towns inland from the coast — about eighty minutes from Brisbane, forty-five from the Gold Coast, and unhurried in a way neither city is. Canungra, twelve minutes away, is the nearest township: cafés, bakeries, a country pub, and award-winning pies at The Outpost Café.
Lamington National Park adjoins the property's foothills — heritage-listed rainforest holding waterfalls, lookouts, birdlife and some of Queensland's most iconic walking trails. Sarabah Estate Vineyard is two minutes down the road; O'Reilly's Canungra Valley Vineyards, 5.2 kilometres. Tamborine Mountain, 28 kilometres away, carries wineries, glow worm caves and the Gallery Walk.
